TUBAC, ARIZONA

Where Art and History Meet

The Tubac Center for the Arts

Established in 1752 as a Spanish presidio, modern Tubac is a booming community that features abundant art galleries, studios, shops and elegant restaurants.  Working artists' studios surround the grounds of the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, once the home for the Spanish military garrison.

Sculpture abounds in TubacVisitors to Tubac can enjoy a round of golf at the newly renovated and redesigned Tubac Golf Resort, and the nearby Anza Trail connects Tubac hikers to the Tumacacori National Historic Park, four miles to the south.

Tubac enjoys a year-around economy that benefits from brisk tourist visitation in the winter months and summer temperatures that are notably cooler than both Tucson or Phoenix. More than one hundred businesses now fill Tubac's streets, and a full day can be enjoyed simply exploring the many shops. In addition, the Tubac Center of the Arts provides a full range of fine arts programming, performing arts and children's programs in the summer.  A variety of locally owned restaurants are open for for both lunch and dinner, and three bed & breakfasts mean that guests can extend their visit and enjoy a relaxed sunset against crystal clear skies before turning in.
